Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and life. Hope you have a nice stay!

Wedding Vendors

Wedding Vendors

In the Houston area, there are some amazing vendors for just about everything you need but luckily I had friends refer me to just about all my vendors. References always help to insure they will do a great job. If you live in the Houston area or surrounding areas here are all the vendors I used, all captured by the pictures taken by the talented Julie Wilhite!! Many venues have a variety of food to choose from; which is nice not having to find a caterer.  Your venue will usually provide tables, chairs, linens, and chargers if they serve their own food; especially if it’s at a country club. This luxury made wedding planning a little less stressful; Lakeside Country Club did a flawless job with the arranging of the tables, food, and even lighting.  It’s important to choose a venue that knows how to throw a party as well; again Lakeside's presentation was fabulous.

The Dress:
I found my stunning dress at Joan Pillow Bridal Boutique. It’s a Monique Lhuillier strapless, lace cross between fit and flare and mermaid. It has a gorgeous train lined with horse hair; which was my favorite part about my dress.  Wedding dresses generally take 3 to 4 months to come in and once it does, schedule your first fitting so the dress is tailored perfectly to your body. Make sure when you go to get your fitting that you have your wedding shoes; so they can hem the dress accordingly.  If you plan on toning up or losing some weight before the big day, I highly suggest you get a few fittings so the dress will be perfect. I did my last fitting the week before the wedding. This way, they will steam it and have it flawless for the big day. Most places will have you pay an alteration fee once you schedule your first fitting. This normally includes unlimited fittings and alterations so take advantage!  I paired my dress with a Monique Lhuillier beaded belt; it really pulled the whole look together. Belts are a great way to jazz your dress up if you feel its missing something. As for picking out a vail I wore my mother’s gorgeous cathedral, lace vail; the same one she wore on her wedding day. The lace on my wedding dress almost matched her vail perfectly; it was like it was meant to be.  It also, saved me some money.  The shoes I chose are Kate Spade, Ivory, satin sling backs with a rhinestone bow accent.  The rhinestone bow sold me and not to mention the heel is only 3”; which made my wedding night much more bearable.

 Cake:
I used Cakes by Susie. Susie is the owner and makes the most gorgeous wedding cakes/ the coolest groom’s cakes.  Not only do they look fabulous they taste sinfully delicious but really they were the best cakes I have ever eaten! I got the almond vanilla flavored…it’s to die for and I got so many complements on how good it was.  Philip's cake was in theme with one of his favorite hobbies, fishing. His was milk chocolate and also very delicious.

Florist:
Flowers Flowers Flowers for days!! Flora Bella was my florist and I still can’t get over how stunning my flower arrangements were!! I was floored when I saw them all set up in the ball room at Lakeside. Stephanie is the owner of Flora Bella and I could not be more thrilled with how they all turned out!! If you are looking for a florist who does quality work, she is in my opinion one of the best.  If you’re going to splurge on one area for the reception do flowers because it totally makes the room and you won’t need much more in the way of decorations. It can be really hard to figure out what color scheme you want to go with; so first think about the time of year and what kind of flowers are in season.  Mine was July so I knew I wanted to do bright summer colors.  I have been seeing so many weddings with just white. Although it does look elegant and beautiful, I was tired of seeing the same thing over and over; so to stand out do color!! Don’t be afraid of color, your guests will be wowed!! Also, make sure you chose colors that will pair well with whatever color your bridesmaids dresses are.

Music: DJ or Band?? We chose a band and they were amazing! Dry Water Band is seriously awesome and they can do almost any song. They have every genre and have a list of popular wedding songs to choose from.  We got tonnes of complements on how fun and energetic the band was.

Wedding Planner or Day of Coordinator:
My mom and I had the wedding planning under control. Lakeside took care of so much so there really wasn’t a need for a long term wedding planner.  I highly suggest a day of wedding coordinator; trust me you will be glad you had one.  They will plan out a day of timeline, which will include the order of things and timing.  I honestly don’t know what I would have done without my coordinator; it made my wedding day stress free and my mom wasn’t having to run around making sure everything was going to plan. This will insure that everyone involved in the wedding party will get to take it all in and enjoy! I used Brandi Willis with Aspiring Events, she was amazing and a pleasure to work with.

Happy wedding planning.
