Our Honeymoon to London and Santorini, Greece (Part 1)
A honeymoon is a trip of a lifetime. After all the hectic wedding planning and the bliss of your wedding day, it is time to start your first adventure together as husband and wife. Here are some highlights from ours. London:
First stop on our adventure was London; we purposely planned a long layover to spend the day there. We took the Tube (subway) to our first location Big Ben and marveled at the sights. This was Philips and I’s first time to London so of course we made high tea reservations; a must do to get the full experience. We made reservations at a super trendy place called Sketch. Sketch is probably one of the coolest restaurants I have ever been too; they have strange but hilarious novelty drawings all over the walls. The tea cups and tea pots have funny little word sayings on them and the bathroom is a room full of eggs, which are where the toilets are (see picture below to get a visual). After our chic high tea experience, we had time for one more stop; Harrods!! Harrods is a fashion lover’s dream come true. I could have spent all day in there and all of my money! Hope we can make our way back and spend more time in London on a future trip.
Off to Santorini, Greece:
Santorini was my favorite place we traveled to during our honeymoon. If you follow me on Instagram, I am sure you have seen some of the pictures we took. Our hotel, Pegasus Suites, had the most breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea; major water lust!! We also had a perfect view of the caldera. The staff at Pegasus was lovely and super friendly; they really took care of us. A spectacular breakfast spread was served every morning on our private patio. Each room was unique. Depending on what room you choose, most have a private hot tub and some even have a private infinity pool. The hotel is right between the two major towns Oia and Fira. Our first night, we went in to the town of Oia, which is known for its famous sunsets. For dinner we sat right by the glistening waters of Ammoundi Bay, where we ate dinner at Sunset Taverna, while we took in the breathtaking sunset and enjoyed the house special, Lobster Spaghetti. Overall, the culinary experience on the island should simply be described as “delicious”.
The next day, we went back into Oia and hiked the highest points to take in layers of blue and white, dome houses. The horizon with all the houses on top of each other was so beautiful it was surreal. The best thing we did in Santorini was making reservations for Sunset Oia Sailing. We spent 5 hours on a large catamaran sailing around the Aegean to the Hot Springs, White Beach for snorkeling, and Red Beach. We had unlimited wine and they grilled us a delicious Greek dinner, as we watched another glorious sunset. Another favorite of the trip was walking through Fira and having the most aesthetically pleasing cocktails at Palia Kameni Cocktail Bar. It was also surrounded with more beautiful scenery. The weather was hot but felt perfect at night. If you plan on visiting the Greek Islands during July or August, bring lightweight clothes for the day and maybe a sweater at night. Santorini is by far one of the most beautiful places I have ever been with extraordinary views. We will without a doubt be back one day.
