Every girl dreams of the perfect proposal. From the time any girl sees her first Disney princess movie, she dreams of being a princess that meets her prince charming. Philip and I had planned a trip to Italy, so naturally I’m thinking to myself that this might be it after 5 years together. I prepared myself by planning each outfit out and getting a fresh manicure. We visited Rome first and spent two days there touring the historical sights. I was thinking, he has to do it the first night but nothing. Not even the second night! Next, we took a train to Florence and I thought, ok it’s for sure happening in Florence but still nothing. Here we are on the fourth day of our romantic Italian vacation and still no proposal; I’m thinking that it’s not going to happen on the trip. The next day, Philip tells me to get ready for a day in Tuscany so we cabbed in to the country side. We stop at a gate where Philip tells me that we are going to spend the afternoon driving around the beautiful landscapes of Tuscany in 1950’s Fiats!! I was so surprised and obsessed with the cute little Fiats. We met with our tour guide and followed her to the first stop, which was at a Terracotta factory, which had breathtaking views that overlooked miles of vineyards. Next, we stopped at a local farm house where the owner let us pick and eat figs straight from his fig trees. They were delicious! The third stop was at a vineyard, called Villa Le Piazzole, to wine taste and have dinner. Our tour guide told us to go check out the view from the top of the vineyard. Meanwhile, she let the restaurant know we had arrived. I started to think maybe there will be a proposal after all as we walked up the hill. I could tell Philip was a little nervous. Once we reached the top, we took in the amazing sunset and I could see Philip out of the corner of my eye fiddling around with something. I turn to him and he has the biggest smile on his face. He got down on one knee and we both just burst out in laughter as I held my hand out. It was truly the happiest moment of my life and it was so perfect just the two of us watching the sunset go down. As we started walking down the hill our tour guide was walking up with a bottle of prosecco. Our sweet tour guide was in on it the whole time and took a few pictures of us as we toasted to forever! Afterward we made our way to the villa restaurant for a private dinner of delicious Tuscan cuisine and fine Chianti wine from the vineyard where we had just become engaged!
If you are planning on visiting Tuscany, I highly recommend this tour. The people that own it were so great and showed us a wonderful time. It was such a treat to drive around in the charming 1950’s fiats. They have several Fiat tour options including sunset tours, wine tours, wine-making tours, picnic tours, or even private tours (which we did). Philip and I are planning on visiting again for our 5 year wedding anniversary and staying at Villa Le Piazzole, which is a beautiful bed and breakfast in it's own right.
